Born and raised in Israel, Tamara Baskin moved to the United States where she began her career in art. She is a self taught artist with some 20 years experience working in several mediums. For the past several years she has been working with fused glass where her emphasis is in creating elegant, yet functional designs, to celebrate Jewish life. Each piece is signed and dated.
The technique of fusing glass goes back to biblical times. Layers of glass are cut and then arranged in a kiln to be fired to a temperature of 1550 degrees, when it becomes one piece of glass. A second firing is required to form the piece. Slumping into a mould may create variations of "crackling" in the precious metal letters.
With double sided blue rock glass on a pewter stem. Our glass does not have hebrew writing on it, so this way, it can even be used for Elijah's cup on Pesach!
As part of the Blue Rock collection this cup is perfect to complete your Passover, Shabbat or holiday table.
