Joel and Candace Bless first began working with hot glass at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the early 1970s. Together they have developed several techniques, including vertical casting and fused blown glass, to create items that combine beauty and functionality.
These "rook" candlesticks are made from a cast cobalt blue glass base that rises to a clear glass top. Wavy shapes within the glass reflect the candlelight. These candlesticks come with metal inserts to allow candles to burn out on their own according to traditional custom.
Each candlestick stands about 8.5" tall; the clear top area is a 2.5" cube shape. All pieces are made by hand by the artists in their Pennsylvania studio. Although sold as a pair, no two are exactly alike.
